A community leader in Manchester has bagged one of the prestigious awards from India…reports Asian Lite News
Mr Niranjan Bhatt, Chairman of Indian Senior Citizens Centre, Whalley Range, Manchester, was awarded with Mahatma Gandhi Medal for his community works besides social commitment and promoting Indian culture and traditions.
Mr Bhatt, a former staff at Manchester airport, is actively involved several charity and religious forums. He is the President of the Hindu Religious Society, Gandhi Hall, Manchester. The forum organised three days Sri Chandi Maha Yagna for global peace and prosperity. He is also involved in several religious festivals like Ganesh Chaturthi and Ganesh Visarjan. He is also an organising committee member of Manchester Navaratri Festival Association at Wythenshaw Forum, the biggest Indian event in the North. All these events are drawing hundreds of Indian-origin British citizens to Manchester.
Mr Bhatt is also a member of the Executive Committee of Hindu Council of North and helping the forum to organise cultural programmes for the benefit of the Hindu community.
Mr Bhatt is spending his time at Indian Senior Citizens Centre by helping them to run the centre smoothly. The centre is providing various services and care to older citizens to keep them busy and engaged. The centre is a beacon for senior members of Indian community to share their sorrow and happiness with fellow citizens.
