To promote Vibrant Saurashtra 2016 in the UK, a roadshow was organised in Leicester….reports Asian Lite News
Vibrant Saurashtra Expo & Summit 2016 (VSES16 ) which is scheduled from 8 to 10 January 2016, is organised by Octagon Communications & Global Network and co organised by Rajkot Chamber of Commerce & Industry, in association with IndextB – Government of Gujarat.
The focus of the summit is Trade, Investment, Tourism, Education & culture. The theme of the summit is Make in India, Clean India, Smart India, Digital India & Smart (cities ) India.
To promote Vibrant Saurashtra 2016 in UK, a roadshow was organised in Leicester jointly with Indo British Trade Council ( IBTC ) & Air India, which is starting the first London to Ahmedabad flight. Consul General of India to Birmingham Mr. Jitendra Kumar Sharma was the chief guest of the roadshow.
The roadshow in Leicester started with a warm welcome address by, Chairman of Indo British Trade Council ( IBTC ) Mr. Uday Dholakia who thanked all delegates for attending the roadshow.
He mentioned that way back in 1987 Leicester & Rajkot cities had signed sister city agreements. We need to take that relationship to the next level of economic co operation. He mentioned that skilled India is an important initiative of Governemnt of India & the Universities in Leicester would like to establish skill development centres in Saurashtra. He also mentioned about co operation in aviation sector in Saurashtra. Mr. Uday Dholakia is also the Brand Ambassador for the Birmingham airport & is the Director of Indian Institute of Advanced Research ( IIAR ) established at Gandhinagar in Gujarat – India. He said we should explore opportunities offered by Vibrant Saurashtra 2016. He committed to lead a delegation from Leicester to Vibrant Saurashtra in January 2016.
It was followed by an address delivered by President of Leicestershire Asian Business Association ( LABA ) Mr. Jaspal Minhas, He thanked the Consul General of India to Birmingham Mr. Jitendra Kumar Sharma for accepting their invitation for the roadshow. He said there are immense opportunities in Saurashtra for us to go & explore.
Consul General of India to Birmingham mentioned about the successful visit of the Hon. PM of India to UK and said it is very encouraging to see this Vibrant Saurashtra 2016 delegation talking practical business immediately after PM’s visit. He talked about the warmth which he receives from the community in Leicester & therefore often visits here for interactions with the community. He said Government of India’s focus is to improve trade & investment between India & UK. He motivated the delegates to participate in the Vibrant Saurashtra event & said all the support required from High Commission will be extended.
Jagat Shah, Founder of Global Network & Co Organiser of Vibrant Saurashtra 2016 shared a presentation on linkage between the 5 new initiatives of Government of India Make in India, Skill India, Clean India, Digital India & Smart India. He shared that the theme of Vibrant Saurashtra are these 5 initiatives & focus is on trade, investment, education, culture & tourism. He shared interesting & practical examples of Make in India with technology transfer from UK to India. He also talked about Online business opportunities in India which can be encashed by UK business community. He motivated delegates to fill the online B2B & B2G forms at Vibrant Saurashtra website so that value for money can be offered through their visit to Vibrant Saurashtra by pre fixing their perfect match making meetings.
Sandip Patel, CEO of Octagon Communication & Co Organiser of Vibrant Saurashtra 2016, shared the infrastructure details of Vibrant Saurashtra 2016. He showed three interesting films on Making of Vibrant Gujarat, on Vibrant Kutch & on Vibrant Saurashtra. He also shared information about the three pillars of the event – The knowledge Summit, The Exhibition & the cultural evenings by popular Gujarati singer – Devang Patel. He invited all delegates to visit Vibrant Saurashtra & announced the local hospitality costs of delegates from UK in Rajkot will be covered by the organisers.
Vote of thanks was delivered by Uday Dholakia, Chairman of Indo British Trade Council. He thanked all present for the time taken to come & listen patiently to various talks.
The roadshow was hosted by the courtesy of Leicester City Football Club ( LCFC ) & a big thanks to Hajr Hir & his team for excellent hospitality & arrangements.
Kamlesh Purohit, the assistant editor of BBC Radio Leicester compered the roadshow very professionally & with interesting anecdotes of his experience as a sports journalist covering cricket matches in India & abroad.
Other prominent personalities present were Robert Watson, Director of Leicestershire Asian Business Associatin ( LABA ), Assistant City Mayour Abdul Razak Osman, Councillor Ratilal Govind from Leicester city council, Prof Samir Dani from University of Huddersfield, Bharat Gadhia from De Montfort University, Sumeer Kalyani from BBC, industrialists & academics. Many young & upcoming enterpreneurs and start ups also attend the roadshow. Several of them decided on the spot to visit Vibrant Saurashtra.
