Sir Harold Evans Dies At 92

Veteran British-American journalist Sir Harold Evans dies of heart failure in New York on Wednesday, the Reuters news agency has reported.

The former editor of the Sunday Times served 13 years in it, was currently the editor-in-chief of Reuters.

He has been in journalism for 70 years and was an expert in investigative journalism. Notably, he was eloquent and powerful on his active campaigns against injustice and always kept the highest journalistic standards.

Besides, he has been a great contributor to The Week, The Guardian and BBC Radio 4. He continued his career as magazine founder, book publisher and the author along with journalism.

He was born in 1928, at 39 Renshaw street to Welsh Parents. At the age of 16, he began his career as a reporter in a weekly newspaper.

The plight of hundreds of British children who suffered birth defects due thalidomide was brought in to forefront by Evans.

He has penned several books including The American Century (1998) and They Made America (2004).

Congestive heart disease caused his death, according to wife Tina Brown.
