Sheikh Mohammed leads UAE delegation to GCC Summit

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid and his accompanying delegation was welcomed by Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia Mohammed bin Salman, reports Asian Lite News

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Tuesday led the UAE delegation participating in the 42nd Gulf Cooperation Council Summit being chaired by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Summit, attended by Their Majesties and Their Highnesses, leaders of GCC countries, was held in the Saudi capital, Riyadh.

On behalf of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, chaired the 42nd Gulf Cooperation Council Summit.

Sheikh Mohammed leads UAE delegation to GCC Summit

During his opening address at the Summit, Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud said the 42nd GCC Summit comes at a time when the region is facing many challenges that require coordinated efforts to enhance the security and stability of GCC nations. He stressed on the importance of completing the process of economic integration and enhancing the GCC’s regional and international role by ensuring a united political stance as well as developing partnerships with the international community.

He also emphasised on the critical need to strike the right balance necessary to achieve security and stability in global energy markets. He further said it is vital to address climate change by providing the world with clean energy and advancing development and innovation in this field.

The Summit discussed various issues related to cooperation between GCC member countries. The leaders of GCC nations also discussed the progress made in advancing integration and collaboration in various fields to meet the aspirations of the people and shape a glorious new future for the region. The Summit also discussed ways of further enhancing security and prosperity in the GCC region.

The UAE high-level delegation comprises Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, Mohammad bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, Mohamed Hadi Al Hussaini, Minister of State for Financial Affairs, Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemy, Minister of State for International Cooperation, Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, Khalifa Shaheen Al Marar, Minister of State, Sheikh Nahyan bin Saif bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, UAE Ambassador Saudi Arabia, and Khalifa Saeed Sulaiman, Chairman of Protocols for the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid and his accompanying delegation arrived earlier on Tuesday at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, where he was welcomed by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of Saudi Arabia and a number of Saudi princes, ministers and senior officials.
