UAE, WEF Share Same Vision: Sheikh Mohammed

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has met with Professor Klaus Schwab, Founder and Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum at Expo Dubai 2020.

The meeting was attended by Sheikh Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Finance, and Mohammed Al-Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, and Abdullah Lootah, Director General of the Prime Minister Office.

Sheikh Mohammed affirmed that the most important pillar upon which UAE’s visions are based is looking forward to the future and working to design its paths and define its directions. UAE vision is also driven by its constant pursuit of guarantees for a better future for the coming generations in the country, Arab region, and the whole world.

Sheikh Mohammed said: “All Governments of the world share the responsibility of shaping the future of humanity, where platforms like the World Economic Forum and Expo are models of the perfect mechanism for discussions about the future of humanity.”

Sheikh Mohammed also said during his reception of the Founder and Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum: “50 years since the World Economic Forum was established, and here from Expo Dubai we celebrate its accomplishments, just as we celebrate 50 years since founding the United Arab Emirates. We share the same vision that aims to stimulate minds and transform thoughts into actual work plans and initiatives that shape our path to the future.”

Sheikh Mohammed added “Our partnership extends over two decades and continues, we aim to establish true universal debate for a better future for all.”

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed honored Professor Klaus Schwab with Honor of Mohammed Bin Rashid during their meeting today, as a special tribute for this prominent international figure, and for his essential role in leading the World Economic Forum through the past 50 years, through which the Forum has fulfilled success and achieved plenty of achievements.

During the meeting, His Highness reviewed with Professor Klaus Schwab several subjects and themes about “The Great Narrative” and methods that build on the outcomes of the dialogue in developing a clear working plan for the governments to utilize, build upon, and use to reinforce their ability to take part in the universal train heading towards the future. The meeting also discussed utilizing The Great Narrative in keeping up with the fast-paced changes brought upon governments by the digital revolution and its reflections on the vital sectors.

It is worth mentioning, His Highness meeting with Professor Schwab comes as part of the professor’s scheduled visit to UAE to participate in The Great Narrative, which is held as a collaborative effort between UAE Government and the World Economic Forum, 11 and 12 of this Month.

The Great Narrative is hosted in Dubai with participation of Emirati Ministers and dignified personalities, 50 of an elite group of philosophers, specialists and futurists, aiming to contribute fresh visions and perspectives about the long-term collective future of the vital sectors.

The Meeting includes interactive debate sessions, specialized workshops that cover the vital sectors that are closely tied with our community.
