Afghanistan receives additional $32 mn in cash aid

Afghanistan has received another $32 million in humanitarian cash assistance, the Afghan caretaker government confirmed on Wednesday.

Citing officials of the country’s national bank, Da Afghanistan Bank, the government said in a statement that the 20th package of humanitarian aid of $32 million reached Afghanistan on Tuesday, and was delivered to the Afghanistan International Bank, Xinhua news agency reported.

While appreciating the humanitarian assistance from the international community, the statement called for more cooperation of the international community in humanitarian assistance to the Asian country.

More than 22 million Afghans, out of some 35 million of the country’s total population, are facing acute food shortages, and the war-torn country would face humanitarian catastrophe if not assisted, according to aid agencies’ reports.
