Masks no longer mandatory outside at Expo

The Covid-19 preventive measures will continue to include the mandatory wearing of masks indoors, reports Asian Lite Newsdesk

The organisers of the Expo 2020 Dubai on Sunday confirmed that face masks are optional for visitors while in outdoor areas at the Expo.

“Expo 2020 Dubai Covid-19 preventive measures will continue to include the mandatory wearing of masks indoors,” read a statement issued by organisers of the expo.

While event organisers do not mandate the wearing of masks at outdoor public areas, guests and staff are encouraged to continue to do so at popular entertainment venues with large attendance, Khaleej Times reported.

“Health and safety remains a key priority, with stringent rules in place across the site,” the statement added.

All visitors ages 18 and above must show either proof of vaccination or a negative PCR test result taken within the previous 72 hours, while on-site measures include mask-wearing for visitors, staff and participants, and PCR testing facilities for Country Pavilion staff, frontline workers, and entertainers.

The Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management on Saturday, January 26, announced updates to Covid-19 precautionary measures in the UAE, according to WAM, the UAE state news agency.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health and Prevention, (MoHAP) announced that it conducted 452,997additional COVID-19 tests over the past 24 hours. Itannounced 622 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total number of recorded cases in the UAE to 879,368.

According to the Ministry, the infected individuals are from various nationalities, are in a stable condition, and receiving the necessary care.

The Ministry added that no COVID-19-related deaths have been recorded in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths in the country to 2,301.

MoHAP also noted that an additional 1,665 individuals had fully recovered from COVID-19, bringing the total number of recoveries to 823,470.

Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group.

Mohammed bin Rashid tours Bolivia and Cuba Pavilions at Expo 2020 (WAM)

H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid emphasised the opportunities that the mega event offers to share ideas and innovations that contribute to building a better future for humanity.

His Highness said the UAE possesses innovative ideas and capabilities in various fields, which it is able to share with the rest of the world to support efforts to enhance people’s quality of life and happiness.

During his visit to the Bolivia pavilion, located at the Sustainability District, His Highness was briefed on the key features of the pavilion, which showcases Bolivia’s advancements in the fields of energy, ecotourism, superfoods and technology.

Under the theme ‘Energy and Diversity for the New World’, the pavilion showcases alternative power sources for electric vehicles and the country’s wealth of health-boosting superfoods and one-of-a-kind sustainable tourist adventures.

Sheikh Mohammed also went on a tour of the Cuba pavilion, located at the Sustainability District, which showcases the country’s culture, arts and heritage.

The pavilion takes visitors on a journey through the vibrant streets of Havana, opening a kaleidoscopic variety of interactive doors in order to explore the country’s deep cultural heritage and promising future in biotechnology and renewable energy.

The Cuba pavilion also showcases the various economic, social and ecological transformations that are taking place throughout the country.

Recently, Sheikh Mohammed  had toured the pavilions of India and Pakistan at Expo 2020 Dubai. He was accompanied by H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance.

He said that Expo 2020 Dubai serves as a unique platform to celebrate creativity and innovation as well as discover new partnerships that will drive progress in the region and beyond. He added that the participation of 192 countries at the global event has offered an opportunity for the exchange of knowledge, experiences and innovations from across the world that will help shape a better future for humanity.
