UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, made a phone call to his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, during which he offered his sincere condolences over the victims of the explosion that occurred in a mine in the northern state of Bartın, which resulted in the deaths and injury of dozens of people.
Sheikh Mohamed expressed the UAE’s solidarity with Türkiye’s government and its people.
In turn, President Erdoğan thanked Sheikh Mohamed for his heartfelt sympathies and wished the UAE and its people continued progress and prosperity, highlighting the deep-rooted ties between the two countries.
Meanwhile, five prosecutors were appointed to investigate an underground coal mine explosion that killed 41 workers in northern Turkey, the country’s Justice Minister Bekir Bozdag said.
“I would like to express clearly to the public that this incident will be investigated and clarified in all its aspects. No matter how many questions there are, they will all be answered,” he added on Sunday.

Bozdag said it was not possible to detect evidence inside the mine at present as the cooling works have not yet been completed, but promised that all requirements of the investigation will be meticulously fulfilled in the next period, Xinhua news agency reported.
Meanwhile, all the operations at the mine have been suspended until further notice and the teams continued to fight the fire in parts of the site, the Turkish Energy and Natural Resources Minister Fatih Donmez told reporters.
Initial findings indicate the blast was caused by firedamp, he said.
