GOP Flips Louisiana Governor’s Seat

This win comes ahead of two more red state governor’s elections, with Democrats aiming to retain power in Kentucky and Mississippi….reports Asian Lite News

Republican Jeff Landry’s victory in Louisiana’s governorship election marks the end of the Democrats’ two-term reign.

Landry secured over 51% of the vote in a crowded field of 16 candidates, including Democrats, independents, and Republicans.

This win comes ahead of two more red state governor’s elections, with Democrats aiming to retain power in Kentucky and Mississippi.

Despite expectations of a runoff, Landry, endorsed by former President Donald Trump, garnered enough support to bypass it.

Democratic candidate Shawn Wilson placed second with 26% of the vote, while the third-place Republican, Stephen Waguespack, lagged behind at 6%. Landry will follow term-limited Democratic Governor John Bel Edwards, emphasizing his pro-life stance, efforts in addressing the opioid crisis, and work on crime prevention as attorney general.
