Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, Sisi review regional developments

President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi held discussions aimed at further strengthening bilateral ties between the two nations.

During a meeting at the Ittihadiya Presidential Palace in Cairo, the two leaders addressed a number of issues of interest and exchanged views on the latest regional and international developments.

During the meeting, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed and President El Sisi explored opportunities to boost collaboration between the two nations and reaffirmed their shared interest in promoting stability and progress for the region and its people.

The UAE President underscored the long-standing relations between the UAE and Egypt and expressed his interest in strengthening them further.

President El Sisi welcomed the visit of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed and expressed his pride in the close relations between both nations and their people.

The Egyptian President hosted an Iftar banquet in honour of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed and his delegation, before accompanying the UAE party to Cairo International Airport for their departure.

Attending the meeting and the banquet were the delegation accompanying His Highness the President, including H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Presidential Court; H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan; Sheikh Sultan bin Hamdan Al Nahyan, Adviser to the UAE President; Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Advisor for Special Affairs at the Ministry of Presidential Court; Ali bin Hammad Al Shamsi, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for National Security; and Mariam Al Kaabi, UAE Ambassador to Egypt.

Also present were Mostafa Kamal Madbouly, Prime Minister of Egypt; Sameh Shoukry, Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs; Mohamed Shaker, Dr. Mohamed Shaker El Markabi, Egypt’s Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy; Dr. Hala El Said, Egypt’s Minister of Planning and Economic Development; Major General Abbas Kamel, Director of the General Intelligence Directorate; and Counsellor Ahmed Fahmy, Spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency.

The UAE President had recently sent a written message to El Sisi, inviting him to attend the COP28 Climate Change Conference, to be held at Expo City Dubai in November.

The message was delivered to the Egyptian President by Mariam Al Kaabi, UAE Ambassador to Egypt and Permanent Representative of the UAE to the Arab League, in the presence of Sameh Shoukry, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Egypt.

The Egyptian President affirmed his confidence in the UAE’s leadership for hosting COP 28 and expressed his country’s readiness to enhance cooperation and share Egyptian expertise in this regard, taking into account the relevant concerns of developing and African nations.

Ambassador Al Kaabi highlighted the UAE’s interest in boosting cooperation between the two countries and exchanging experiences, especially in light of Egypt’s hosting of the COP27 conference in Sharm El-Sheikh in 2022.

Recently, El- Sisi made phone calls with H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, H.H. Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi, H.H. Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi, and H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, congratulating them on the new appointments, wishing them continued success in fulfilling their responsibilities.

During the phone calls, the Egyptian president wished the UAE leaders full success in achieving the aspirations of their people toward more progress and prosperity under the wise leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed.

Sheikh Mansour, Sheikh Hazza, Sheikh Tahnoun and Sheikh Khaled expressed their thanks to the Egyptian president for his genuine feelings toward the UAE, and emphasised the two countries’ long-standing and privileged relations, wishing Egypt continued development and success under his leadership.

Cairo marked Zayed Humanitarian Day

The UAE Embassy in Cairo organised a seminar on Zayed Humanitarian Day, which was attended by Mariam Al Kaabi, UAE Ambassador to Egypt and Permanent Representative of the UAE to the Arab League, and Ambassador Mohamed Al Orabi, Former Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Al Orabi said, “Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan instilled the principles of humanity, tolerance and coexistence in the hearts of his children, and these firm principles extended beyond the UAE until they became a role model. He was a wise politician who placed the UAE among the developed and influential countries in the region and gave it an important role in spreading peace in the world.”
