Modi Meets Tulsi Gabbard, Highlights Strong India-US Friendship

PM Modi arrived in Washington on Wednesday, following a visit to France, where he co-chaired the Artificial Intelligence Action Summit with French President Emmanuel Macron.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi met US Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard in Washington, DC, where they discussed strengthening bilateral ties, focusing on enhancing intelligence cooperation in counter-terrorism, cybersecurity, and emerging threats.

PM Modi congratulated the Hindu-American Gabbard on her confirmation as the nation’s top intelligence official, a position she was confirmed to on Wednesday. In a post on X, PM Modi expressed his admiration for Gabbard’s long-standing support for India-US relations: “Met USA’s Director of National Intelligence, @TulsiGabbard in Washington DC. Congratulated her on her confirmation. Discussed various aspects of the India-USA friendship, of which she’s always been a strong votary.”

The discussions also touched upon the growing need for cooperation in tackling global security challenges. Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal further elaborated on the focus of the talks, noting the importance of collaboration between the two nations in tackling terrorism and cybersecurity threats.

PM Modi arrived in Washington on Wednesday, following a visit to France, where he co-chaired the Artificial Intelligence Action Summit with French President Emmanuel Macron. He will hold bilateral discussions with US President Donald Trump at the White House on Thursday.

Earlier on Wednesday, Gabbard was sworn in as Director of National Intelligence in a ceremony at the Oval Office, following her confirmation by the Senate. Gabbard, 43, a former Democratic Congresswoman from Hawaii, has faced scrutiny regarding her qualifications for the position but has vowed to rebuild trust in the intelligence community.

In her remarks after taking office, Gabbard stressed the importance of refocusing the intelligence agencies to ensure national security without political influence.
