Musk Goes Political

Billionaire tech mogul launches ‘America Party’ to challenge Washington’s status quo…reports Asian Lite News

In a sensational twist to the Trump-Musk fallout saga, the Tesla CEO launched his own “America Party”.

Musk on Saturday (local time) critiqued the US’ current political scenario over the lack of options, saying “we live in a one-party system, not a democracy.”

The newly formed America Party, which touts itself as “The party that actually represents America!” in a post on X said, “We’ve tried red. We’ve tried blue. America is ready for something that actually works. America Party — The middle has a voice now.”

Among the series of posts included one that read, “The silent majority isn’t silent anymore. This is the moment everything shifts. The America Party is now here — and it’s the answer to a system that stopped listening.”

This comes after Musk conducted a poll on the social media platform X, asking users whether he should start a party, to which 65 percent of them agreed.

“By a factor of 2 to 1, you want a new political party and you shall have it! When it comes to bankrupting our country with waste & graft, we live in a one-party system, not a democracy. Today, the America Party is formed to give you back your freedom,” Musk wrote on X.

Musk musing for the party started after a massive meltdown between the US President and his former adviser over the “Big Beautiful Bill,” which the former DOGE head had heavily criticised.

The ‘Big Beautiful Bill’ was passed by the US Congress on Thursday, which Trump signed on the Fourth of July, holding a signing celebration outside the White House to mark his significant legislative win.

Since his departure from the White House, Musk has been a vocal critic of Trump’s policy bill, especially concerning its projected impact on the national deficit.

Musk has also announced his intention to support challengers to Republicans who backed Trump’s legislation. He added he would defend Representative Thomas Massie, a notable opponent of the bill. Musk also called for the creation of a new political party, criticizing the bill’s massive spending, the Hill reported.

Musk’s stance marks a notable shift from earlier this year, when he was among Trump’s strongest allies. His America PAC spent tens of millions backing Trump in 2024, and he supported Wisconsin Republicans during a tight Supreme Court race.

Despite the renewed tension, Musk recently praised Trump’s foreign policy achievements, posting on X: “Credit where credit is due. @realDonaldTrump has successfully resolved several serious conflicts around the world.”

However, some Republicans warned that Musk’s current stance could alienate both sides. “Musk is deeply hated among Democrats. For now, he maintains good standing among Republicans, but if he follows through, he will lose them as well and be a man without a country,” Michigan-based GOP strategist Jason Cabel Roe told The Hill. “That will sabotage any political or business initiatives he’s involved in.”

Even though Musk has announced his party, the former Donald Trump advisor is yet to outline a concrete plan ahead.
