‘Souk of Giving’ Spreads Ramadan Cheer

Dubai Gold Souk Extension has launched the ‘Souk of Giving’ this Ramadan, offering complimentary Iftar meals to taxi and tour bus drivers from 10 to 25 March 2025.

As the Holy Month of Ramadan unfolds, the Dubai Gold Souk Extension has launched a heartfelt new initiative, the ‘Souk of Giving’, dedicated to recognising the tireless efforts of Dubai’s taxi and tour bus drivers. Running from 10 to 25 March, the programme ensures that those who keep the city moving receive a token of appreciation in the form of complimentary Iftar meals.

Every evening, drivers can collect their Iftar packages from the Dubai Gold Souk Extension’s information desk by presenting a valid RTA or official tour operator ID. The initiative is more than just about offering a meal—it embodies the values of generosity and gratitude that define Ramadan, ensuring that those working long hours during the holy month are not overlooked.

The response has been overwhelmingly positive, with over 100 drivers participating on the very first day alone, setting a strong precedent for the initiative. This effort highlights the Dubai Gold Souk Extension’s commitment to giving back to the community and supporting those who play a vital role in connecting residents and visitors with one of Dubai’s most renowned gold trading destinations.

Speaking about the initiative, Rashid Al Harmoodi, Senior Director of Property Management at Ithra Dubai, said: “The ‘Souk of Giving’ embodies the UAE leadership’s vision for a united and compassionate society, as reflected in this year’s national initiative, the ‘Year of Community.’ At the Dubai Gold Souk Extension, we take pride in fostering a culture of generosity and inclusion. Through this initiative, we aim to honour the dedication of Dubai’s drivers and contribute to a spirit of kindness that defines both Ramadan and the values of our nation.”

The Dubai Gold Souk Extension, a modern addition to the historic souk, continues to uphold the spirit of community and tradition, ensuring that the essence of Ramadan is shared with those who serve the city every day.
