Dr Parag Singhal honoured with OBE

Renowned Indian-origin consultant physician and endocrinologist Dr Parag Singhal has been awarded the prestigious Order of the British Empire (OBE) award for his outstanding services to the United Kingdom’s health education and black and minority ethnic doctors, Rahul Laud reports.

Public service heroes, healthcare and technology experts, artists and educationists are among over 30 professionals of Indian heritage who are recognised in King Charles III’s Birthday Honours List 2025.

The award recognises Dr Singhal’s exceptional achievements, with a particular focus on public service in the field of medical education and healthcare. A recipient of the Lokmat Times Excellence in Healthcare International Award, Prof. Singhal is a practising Endocrinologist at the University Hospitals Bristol and Weston. He is a Visiting Professor at the University of South Wales and Honorary Professor at Bolton University. He serves as Chief Executive of Bapio Training Academy and has developed innovative Indo-U.K. training programmes designed to empower young doctors to face the challenges of the 21st century. He’s also responsible and instrumental in building and strengthening the UK-India Healthcare Alliance. He is Vice President and Honorary Secretary of BAPIO – one of the largest organisations of Indian doctors serving in the UK.

Prof. Singhal received an Honorary Doctorate from Kyrgyz State University and was appointed to Herbalife’s Global Nutrition Advisory Board. He earned GAPIO’s Excellence in Leadership Award (2020), the Bharat Gaurav Award (2015), and became President of Bristol Med Chi in 2024, reflecting his impact on medicine and education.
