Iran confirms IRGC intelligence chief killed in strike on Tehran, as Israel claims responsibility and Donald Trump warns of severe consequences if no deal is reached, reports Asian Lite Newsdesk
Iran has confirmed that a senior intelligence commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps was killed in a strike on Tehran, as regional tensions continue to intensify amid the ongoing US-Israel conflict with Iran.
Iranian authorities said Majid Khademi, head of intelligence within the IRGC, died in a strike early Monday. The claim was later echoed by Israel Defense Forces, which stated it had carried out a targeted overnight airstrike in the Iranian capital.
In a statement, the IDF described Khademi as a “key figure” within Iran’s military intelligence apparatus, alleging he played a central role in planning operations and gathering intelligence for senior leadership. The Israeli military said the strike was conducted with “precise intelligence guidance” and formed part of a broader campaign targeting Iran’s command structure.
The killing follows a series of escalating strikes between Israel, the United States and Iran, with both sides targeting strategic and military-linked assets. A day earlier, Israel said it had also killed another senior IRGC-linked figure, Mohammad Reza Ashrafi Kahi, associated with the organisation’s oil and logistics operations.
Iran has not provided detailed operational information about the strike but has acknowledged the loss of a senior commander, marking another high-profile casualty in the ongoing conflict.
Meanwhile, Donald Trump has warned of severe consequences if a deal is not reached with Tehran, stating that Iran could face “hell” if tensions continue without diplomatic resolution. His remarks underscore the growing pressure for negotiations even as military actions intensify.
