Rain Havoc Hits Pakistan As Child Dies In Mardan

Heavy rains triggered roof collapses, flooding and power disruptions across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while rescue teams evacuated stranded residents from affected areas….reports Asian Lite News Desk

A seven-year-old boy was killed and four people were injured in rain-related incidents in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province as heavy rainfall caused flooding, power disruptions and damage to homes and crops, local media reported.

The boy was killed after the roof of a house collapsed in Mardan district following heavy rain, Rescue 1122 said. His mother and minor sister were also injured in the incident and taken for medical treatment, Pakistani daily Dawn reported.

Two women were also injured when a similar incident occurred in the Bala Ghari area of Mardan district. They were taken to hospital for treatment.

In Nowshera district, rescue teams evacuated seven people, including three women, who became stranded amid heavy rainfall.

The weather also caused damage in parts of Mohmand tribal district, where hailstorms, strong winds and heavy rain affected standing crops and solar power systems in Pandiali tehsil and surrounding areas.

Several parts of Peshawar were flooded following heavy rainfall, affecting traffic movement across the city. Waterlogging was reported in areas including Assembly Chowk, University Road, Saddar Road, Nasi Bagh and parts of Hayatabad, resulting in traffic congestion.

The Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) said 83 of its feeders were affected by the heavy rains. The affected feeders included 19 in Peshawar, 13 in Khyber, nine in Swabi and 29 in Mardan, Dawn reported.

The latest incidents come after a series of weather-related emergencies across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the 2026 monsoon season.

In August, nine people, including four men and three women, were killed and seven others injured in rain-related incidents across the province. Heavy rainfall also triggered landslides and flash floods, damaging more than 103 houses, according to reports.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) said 49 of the damaged houses were completely destroyed, while the remaining structures suffered partial damage. Eight animals were also reported dead in Abbottabad and Buner.

Rain-related incidents were reported in several districts, including Swat, Khyber, Buner, Abbottabad, Upper Chitral and Lower Chitral, during the monsoon spell.

The continuing rainfall has raised concerns over further flooding, landslides and damage to infrastructure in vulnerable parts of the province, with authorities and rescue teams responding to emergencies in affected areas.
