Qatar Debut For Tata

Tata Motors emphasised that its international offerings are backed by strong research and development capabilities, with vehicles that are thoroughly tested and adapted to local conditions

Tata Motors has unveiled its all-new LPO 1622 bus in Qatar, marking a significant step in the company’s expansion across the Middle East. The launch reinforces Tata Motors’ strategic focus on the region and demonstrates its commitment to delivering advanced, sustainable transport solutions tailored to local needs.

Developed specifically for staff transportation, the LPO 1622 is the company’s first Euro VI-compliant bus in the Middle East. According to a company statement, it promises enhanced passenger comfort, high fuel efficiency, and a low total cost of ownership — key factors for fleet operators in the region.

The bus is equipped with a powerful Cummins ISBe 5.6L engine that meets Euro VI emission norms. Delivering 220hp of power and 925Nm of torque, the LPO 1622 is designed to offer optimal performance in both urban and intercity conditions. It is available in two seating capacities — 65-seater and 61-seater — providing flexibility for diverse staff transportation needs.

Tata Motors has packed the LPO 1622 with several advanced safety and performance features. The vehicle includes a full air dual-circuit braking system with ABS, tubeless radial tyres, and a heavy-duty suspension for better ride quality and stability. For driver assistance and safety, the bus offers Electronic Stability Control, Hill Start Assist, Cruise Control, and a Multimode Switch, ensuring smoother operation across varied terrain and load conditions.

Speaking at the launch, Asif Shamim, Head of International Business at Tata Motors, said, “The Middle East continues to be a strategic focus for Tata Motors, where our products have consistently delivered value across a range of applications. With Qatar being a key market, we are pleased to further strengthen our presence with the launch of the all-new LPO 1622 bus, designed to offer higher profitability to customers and superior comfort to passengers.”
Alongside the LPO 1622, Tata Motors also showcased its upgraded Euro V-compliant Prima range of heavy commercial vehicles, engineered to support the region’s evolving infrastructure and construction sectors. The showcased models include the Prima 4040.K (tipper), 4440.S (tractor), 4040.T (tractor), and 6040.S (heavy-duty tractor), offering robust performance for demanding operations.

The launch event in Doha underlines Tata Motors’ intention to scale its market presence by offering customised mobility solutions. The company currently operates in over 40 countries, providing a wide range of commercial vehicles — from sub-1-tonne pickups to 60-tonne cargo trucks and mass mobility solutions ranging from 9-seaters to 71-seaters.

Tata Motors emphasised that its international offerings are backed by strong research and development capabilities, with vehicles that are thoroughly tested and adapted to local conditions. This localisation approach, combined with the company’s proven track record in delivering durable, efficient transport solutions, is expected to further boost its competitiveness in the Middle East.
With the LPO 1622 and the expanded Prima portfolio, Tata Motors is positioning itself to capture greater market share in Qatar and beyond, targeting key sectors such as staff transport, logistics, and construction.
