London Labour Asians Society Marks International Street Children’s Day with Community Leaders and Parliamentarians
The Labour Asians Society commemorated International Street Children’s Day with a significant gathering at the Labour Party HQ, bringing together British parliamentarians, community leaders, officials, and professionals from diverse sectors.
Distinguished speakers addressed the audience, sharing insights into the pressing issues affecting young people today and emphasising the importance of community engagement and policy support. Among the keynote speakers were Navendu Mishra MP, Claire Reynolds, Executive Director of Stakeholder Relations, The Labour Party, Manish Tiwari, Co-Chair of the Labour Asian Society, and Maria Saroya, Head of the Women’s Wing of the Labour Asians Society.

Each speaker highlighted the critical role of education, mentorship, and inclusive community support in shaping the future of young people. They stressed that many children, particularly those from marginalised backgrounds, require greater attention from families, communities, and institutions to help them reach their full potential. The discussion also reflected the Labour Party’s continued focus on youth development, social inclusion, and policies aimed at improving the lives of disadvantaged children.

Speakers further encouraged young people to actively engage with civic life and consider participation in the Labour Party as a platform to voice their concerns, develop leadership skills, and contribute positively to society. Emphasis was placed on unity, collaboration, and the importance of creating pathways for youth to succeed and become responsible citizens who can shape a better future for the country.
The event was hosted by Ashraf Nihal, Head of the Youth Wing of the Labour Asians Society.
