Pennsylvania governor rejects Trump’s call to stop count

“These attempts to subvert the democratic process are simply disgraceful,” said Mr Wolf, a Democrat…reports BBC

Pennsylvania’s governor, Tom Wolf, says the vote count there will continue, despite efforts by President Trump’s campaign team to stop it.BBC reports

It has claimed that Democrats are trying to hijack the vote in Pennsylvania. Deputy campaign manager Justin Clark said Democrats were “scheming to disenfranchise and dilute Republican votes”. However there have been no reports of fraud or irregularities.

“These attempts to subvert the democratic process are simply disgraceful,” said Mr Wolf, a Democrat. “I’m going to fight like hell to protect the vote of every Pennsylvanian. I’m going to do everything in my power to make sure that every vote counts.”

Mike Roman, Trump’s director of election-day operations, posted a video showing a woman in Philadelphia apparently returning multiple ballots to a dropbox and claimed Democrats were “trying to STEAL THE ELECTION in broad daylight.”

Twitter added a warning label on the tweet on Tuesday, saying that “some or all of the content shared in this Tweet is disputed and might be misleading about an election or other civic process.

The platform also restricted the ability to retweet or reply to the tweet, reports The Verge.

“Misinformation being spread online has driven more calls to the Election Task Force hotline than actual incidents at polling sites,” the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office told the New York Times.
