India sends fifth tranche of medical aid to Afghanistan

India delivered the fifth shipment of 2.5 tons of medical assistance and winter clothing to Afghanistan on Saturday.

“Continuing our special partnership with the Afghan people.

India delivered the fifth shipment of 2.5 tons of medical assistance and winter clothing to Afghanistan today,” said a tweet by Ministry of External Affairs Official Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi.

India has repeatedly expressed its commitment to providing humanitarian assistance to the people of Afghanistan.

India is also planning to send food grains to Afghanistan very soon.

The fourth batch of medical assistance consisting of three tons of essential life-saving medicines was sent to Afghanistan last month. It was handed over to the Indira Gandhi Hospital, Kabul on January 28.

India had earlier supplied 500,000 doses of COVID vaccine and 1.6 tons of medical assistance to Afghanistan through World Health Organization (WHO).

In the first tranche of humanitarian aid to Afghanistan after its takeover by the Taliban, India had sent medical supplies on December 11 last year.
