The Indian Navy is set to showcase its operational prowess during the ‘Operational Demonstration’ (Op Demo) at Puri’s Blue Flag Beach on Navy Day, December 4. This event commemorates the Navy’s role in safeguarding the nation and highlights its maritime capabilities.

The grand demonstration will feature 24 warships and 40 aircraft, including helicopters and fighter jets, executing complex aerial maneuvers and maritime exercises. The event aims to increase public awareness of the Navy’s multifaceted abilities while celebrating Odisha’s maritime legacy. President Droupadi Murmu is expected to attend the spectacle, which will run from 4 PM to 6:30 PM and culminate in a dazzling laser show.

The Ministry of Defence emphasized the event’s significance, describing the pristine Blue Flag Beach backdrop as a symbol of the Indian Navy’s deep connection to the state’s maritime heritage. The Navy is collaborating with the Odisha Government and local authorities to ensure smooth execution, with arrangements to accommodate local spectators and tourists, providing them with an opportunity to witness the display from the beach.

According to sources, around 7,500 guests have been invited, and extensive seating arrangements will be made. Odisha DGP YB Khurania announced during a press briefing that full-dress rehearsals are scheduled for December 2 and 3. “Forty designated sectors will be set up along the beach for visitors to observe the Indian Navy’s ships and aircraft in action,” Khurania said.

To ensure a secure and seamless event, Odisha Police will deploy approximately 80 platoons of police personnel and 300 officers in Puri. The entire town will be under CCTV surveillance, and security forces will monitor vehicular traffic on the Bhubaneswar-Puri highway to prevent congestion. These measures aim to provide a safe and memorable experience for all attendees.
