Arab and Muslim supporters of former President Donald Trump convened in Michigan to discuss his presidency’s actions and garner support for his bid to reclaim the White House, media reported.

The meeting follows efforts by the #AbandonBiden movement to sway Muslim voters against President Joe Biden, particularly in key swing states like Michigan.

The potential impact of Muslim voters withholding support for Biden, as seen during the primaries, could be significant in November’s election, Arab News reported.

Trump’s supporters aim to address misconceptions about his Middle East policies, including the Muslim travel ban and Jerusalem recognition.

Despite criticism, some Arab and Muslim leaders believe Trump’s presidency could bring peace and prosperity to the region.

They highlight his policies favoring peace accords and sanctions on Iran. The meeting sought to clarify Trump’s stance and garner Arab American support for his reelection, it was reported.

Speakers at the event, including Trump’s former director of national intelligence Richard Grenell, emphasized Trump’s commitment to peace and his popularity among Arab Americans.

Grenell highlighted Trump’s support for a two-state solution, despite criticisms from some attendees regarding his policies on Jerusalem and peace accords with Arab countries.

The meeting organisers, including Trump supporter Oubai Shahbander, expressed confidence in Trump’s policies resonating with Arab American voters.

They stressed the importance of Arab American support in the upcoming election and criticized Biden’s leadership, alleging broken promises and inadequate representation of Arab American interests.

Participants also discussed organising further meetings between Trump supporters and Arab and Muslim community leaders to address misconceptions and garner support, it was reported.
