JD Vance was sworn in as the 50th Vice President of the United States at the US Capitol Rotunda. At 40 years old, Vance, accompanied by his wife Usha and daughter, became the third youngest to hold the office, with the oath of office administered by US Chief Justice John Roberts.

“A historic day in Washington, as JD Vance becomes the youngest Vice President in history and Donald Trump makes his return to the White House.”

Following Vance’s swearing-in, Donald Trump took the oath of office as the 47th President of the United States, using the same Bible once held by Abraham Lincoln during his swearing-in ceremony.

Before the official events, Tenor Christopher Macchio performed “Oh, America” in the Capitol Rotunda, adding solemnity to the occasion. Trump arrived at the Capitol alongside outgoing President Joe Biden after attending a pre-inauguration tea at the White House. Biden’s heartfelt gesture included greeting Trump with, “Welcome Home,” and leaving a personal letter in the Oval Office.

After his swearing-in, President Trump participated in the traditional signing ceremony in the President’s Room, established by Ronald Reagan in 1981. He also signed nominations, memorandums, and proclamations, marking the first official actions of his presidency.

Trump continued the day with a luncheon, troop review, and participation in the inaugural parade on Capitol Hill. The day’s events wrapped up with a second signing ceremony at the White House, followed by remarks at the Convention Centre.

The inaugural festivities culminated with Trump’s attendance at multiple balls, including the Liberty Ball, the Commander-in-Chief Ball, and the United Station Ball, before returning to the White House.

On January 6, Trump’s election victory was officially certified, with no objections raised by lawmakers. Trump won 312 electoral votes, while Kamala Harris received 226, finalizing the election process ahead of the inauguration.
