India, Netherlands Discuss Strengthening Bilateral Ties

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) highlighted the vast potential for collaboration between India and the Netherlands, particularly in new domains

In a bid to further strengthen the growing partnership between India and the Netherlands, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar engaged in high-level discussions with his Dutch counterpart, Caspar Veldkamp. The bilateral talks, held on Monday, spanned a wide array of sectors, including trade, defense, technology, education, and global strategic developments.

Veldkamp, who is on his first official visit to India, met Jaishankar to review the rapid expansion of bilateral cooperation. The talks focused on key areas such as political exchanges, trade and investment, defense and security, innovation, and cultural ties. Additionally, the two ministers explored emerging fields like semiconductors, digital technologies, renewable energy, green hydrogen, and migration.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) highlighted the vast potential for collaboration between India and the Netherlands, particularly in new domains. Both nations expressed a shared commitment to enhancing cooperation in technology, education, and talent mobility, alongside traditional areas like water, agriculture, and health. The two countries are also keen to explore opportunities in the rapidly evolving fields of renewable energy and green hydrogen, which align with their sustainable development goals.

On social media, Jaishankar expressed his delight at meeting Veldkamp, emphasizing the expanding partnership. “Delighted to meet Foreign Minister Caspar Veldkamp of the Netherlands today. We discussed our growing cooperation across various sectors, including trade, investments, innovation, water, agriculture, health, and security. We also explored new possibilities in semiconductors, green hydrogen, education, and talent flows,” Jaishankar wrote on X.

Veldkamp echoed similar sentiments, emphasizing the importance of their dialogue in the context of a multipolar world. “A pleasure meeting with India’s Foreign Minister Jaishankar in New Delhi. Our conversation centered on opportunities to elevate our partnership in light of the changing geopolitical environment,” he posted on X. He further emphasized their shared commitment to global governance and strengthening ties within the European Union-India framework.

The two leaders also discussed several pressing global issues, including the ongoing Ukraine crisis, the Middle East, and the situation concerning China. These discussions reflect the growing alignment of the two countries on international matters, where they seek to play a pivotal role in addressing global challenges.
