‘Rebuild Gaza, No Displacement’

Jordan King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein called for ending the dangerous escalation in the West Bank, and working to create a political horizon to achieve just and comprehensive peace

Jordan King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein stressed the need to rebuild Gaza without displacing its residents.During a phone call with Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, King Abdullah stressed the importance of holding the ceasefire and stepping up international humanitarian efforts.

The Jordan Times reported that the King called for ending the dangerous escalation in the West Bank, and working to create a political horizon to achieve just and comprehensive peace.
Meanwhile, Secretary-General of the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organisation (JHCO) Hussein Shibli reiterated Jordan’s unwavering commitment to providing humanitarian aid to Gaza, emphasising efforts to maximise aid deliveries.

Speaking to Al Mamlaka TV, Shibli said that since October 7, Jordan has dispatched 176 aid convoys, comprising 7,700 trucks, to Gaza, noting that 42 convoys entered the Strip since the start of the truce. He also that the volume of aid sent during this period was three times higher than in previous comparable periods.

Shibli highlighted that JHCO has ramped up aid deliveries ahead of Ramadan, ensuring the distribution of essential food supplies to meet growing needs. He also stressed that the organisation will continue intensifying efforts throughout the holy month.
He also underscored the World Food Programme (WFP) as a key partner in coordinating aid shipments and facilitating their entry into Gaza.

Cooperation with the WFP and other international organisations, he said, enhances the efficiency of aid distribution by optimising logistics, resources, and supply chains.

Shibli also noted that friendly nations recognise Jordan’s Humanitarian Corridor as the official route for aid deliveries to Gaza through international organisations and governments.
Another report says that the death toll in Gaza has risen to 48,388, while the number of injuries has reached 111,803, according to Palestinian medical sources. The sources reported that 23 fatalities were brought to hospitals in the past 48 hours, including two recent casualties, alongside 23 new injuries.

Many victims remain trapped under rubble and on the streets, with rescue teams struggling to reach them.

Israeli forces have launched large-scale demolitions in Nur Shams refugee camp in the northern West Bank, using military bulldozers to destroy residential buildings and homes. The escalation follows warnings issued days ago to residents regarding the demolition of 11 homes under the pretext of constructing a road inside the camp. Israeli forces also raided homes in Jabal Al-Nasr neighbourhood, forcing residents to evacuate. The camp has witnessed mass displacement for the past 21 days, with over 5,500 people seeking shelter in emergency centres or the homes of relatives in nearby areas.

This marks the 33rd consecutive day of the escalation, with intensified military deployments, the continued use of bulldozers, a blockade on the camp, and the conversion of several residential buildings into military outposts.

The UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) said that Israel’s attempt to dismantle the agency would not resolve the Palestinian refugee issue but could instead worsen the crisis.
In a statement shared on X, UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini stressed that the agency is a vital pillar of humanitarian aid in Gaza. He also stressed the agency’s ongoing efforts to provide healthcare and education to Palestinian refugees in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem.
“The Palestinian refugee issue, as a political issue, will not be resolved if you get rid of UNRWA — the problem might even deepen,” said Lazzarini.
