Pitru Vandana by Sanskruti Centre evokes artistry and emotions

Transcending the bounds of time and languages, Pitru Vandana event uniquely showcased artistic tributes to legendary fathers and father figures who made remarkable contributions to humankind and humanities, to history, philosophy, thought-leadership, literature and performing arts of India.

Tribute to Vedavyasa

Organised by Sanskruti Centre for Cultural Excellence at the Nehru Centre in London, the programme was anchored by Radhika Joshi and Pavani Kollu and had about 20 performers from all over the U.K. presenting dances that commemorated important contributions of poet Kalidas, Veda Vyas, Bharata Muni, Siddhendra Yogi, Saint Annamacharya, Swati Tirunal, Vrushabhanu, Arjuna and others.

Tribute to Kalidasa

The theme, conceived by Ragasudha Vinjamuri, Founder-Trustee of Sanskruti Centre, and the presentations remembering iconic legends had huge visceral response from the audiences who gave exceptional & emotional feedback about the event. The multiple dance styles of Bharatanatyam, Mohiniattam, Kuchipudi, Karagattam, Mono Action, Kummi, Koya, Odissi, Nrityachitra and Kathak presented beautifully highlighted the heritage and diversity of Indian performing arts.

Tribute to Vrishabhanu

Tarun Ghulati, one of the Guests of Honour, said “An excellent evening filled with a vibrant repertoire of dance and music. The choreography was fabulous and the energy electric. A most enjoyable performance- truly unmissable”. Rajani Yalamanchili, an attendee, said “The performances were beautifully curated, blending classical and folk dances from across India in an engaging way. A special mention to Sushil Rapatwar’s act as Kalidasa: a powerful and timely message to reconnect with nature and live more mindfully”.
