Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi has thrown his weight behind the United Democratic Front (UDF) in Kerala, asserting that the alliance reflects the aspirations of the people and is well-positioned for the upcoming Assembly elections.
In a post on X, Gandhi described the UDF as a collective that represents both experience and fresh energy. “Team UDF is Team Keralam. Each candidate reflects the voice, the aspirations and the trust of the people of Keralam,” he said, adding that the alliance brings together seasoned leaders and young change-makers who understand the complexities of their constituencies.
Calling Kerala his home, Gandhi struck an emotional chord with voters. “For me, Keralam is home, and the people of Keralam are family… I will always be your partner,” he wrote, expressing gratitude for the support and affection he has received from the state over the years.
The remarks come at a crucial time, just a day after the Congress party completed its candidate selection for the Assembly polls. V. D. Satheesan, Leader of the Opposition in the Kerala Assembly, confirmed that candidates for all 95 seats being contested by the party have been finalised. He said the focus will now shift fully to campaigning across the state.
Gandhi also emphasised a broader political message, stating that the electorate is looking for change. “The message from Keralam is clear — the people are ready for change. They seek a government that listens, understands, and delivers with honesty,” he noted, adding that he would work alongside a future UDF government to help build a better future for the state.

According to the Election Commission of India, Kerala will go to the polls in a single phase on April 9, with counting scheduled for May 4. As campaigning gathers pace, all eyes are on how the political narrative shaped by leaders like Gandhi will influence voter sentiment in the state.
