Abu Dhabi firms shine as sustainability leaders

Abu Dhabi Chamber honours companies adopting ESG practices, enhancing operational efficiency, market credibility, and competitiveness, driving sustainable growth across industries during Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2026….reports Asian Lite News

The Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry recognised a host of leading companies for their achievements in sustainability on the sidelines of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2026, underscoring the emirate’s commitment to advancing responsible business practices across the private sector.

The awards form part of the Sustainability Label Programme, a flagship initiative launched by the Chamber to embed environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards within business operations. The programme encourages organisations to adopt sustainable practices while enhancing institutional credibility and competitiveness in both local and international markets.

Embedding sustainability as a core biz pillar

“The Abu Dhabi Chamber believes that sustainability has become a fundamental pillar for building a competitive economy capable of keeping pace with future transformations,” said Shamis Ali Khalfan Al Dhaheri, Second Vice Chairman and Managing Director of the Chamber. “Honouring companies that have received the Sustainability Label reflects our commitment to supporting the private sector and encouraging responsible practices that strengthen readiness, operational efficiency, and sustainable growth.”

Companies are evaluated on their maturity in sustainability practices, identify development priorities, and progressively transition toward implementable and effective ESG measures.

The Sustainability Label Programme uses an integrated framework combining readiness assessment, capacity-building, and institutional classification. Companies are evaluated on their maturity in sustainability practices, identify development priorities, and progressively transition toward implementable and effective ESG measures. The programme also provides advisory support and practical tools to help businesses improve credibility, access financing, and expand opportunities for growth.

Recognising leaders across industries

This year’s recognition covered a wide range of sectors, reflecting the growing integration of sustainability across Abu Dhabi’s economic landscape. Companies were awarded in Diamond, Gold, Silver, and Bronze categories based on their level of institutional readiness and commitment to ESG standards.

Diamond Category: Emirates Driving Company, Emirates Steel, Aldar Properties
Gold Category: Union Iron & Steel Factory, NMDC and its subsidiary NMDC Energy, Weatherford, Trojan Construction Group
Silver Category: Al Mazrouei Group (Al Turath Engineering Consultants), Best Pick General Trading
Bronze Category: Emirates Link Contracting Company, LEAD Development

The classifications followed stringent assessment criteria, measuring companies’ operational sustainability, governance frameworks, and environmental and social responsibility initiatives.

Strengthening sustainable biz ecosystem

Ali Mohamed Al Marzooqi, Director-General of the Abu Dhabi Chamber, said the recognition highlights the Chamber’s role in fostering a sustainable and competitive business environment. “Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week serves as a global platform that brings together leaders from across sectors. This recognition underscores the pivotal contribution of private-sector companies in achieving sustainable development objectives while linking economic performance with environmental and social responsibility,” he said.

Representatives from the honoured companies highlighted the tangible benefits of the Sustainability Label, noting improvements in resource efficiency, waste reduction, risk management, and governance structures. They said the programme had transformed their operational models, enhancing decision-making, preparing them for future regulatory developments, and embedding a culture of innovation and responsibility.

Recipients also emphasised that the Sustainability Label strengthens market credibility, positions companies as responsible organisations among clients and investors, and opens opportunities for global market engagement. By aligning business practices with modern supply chain and sustainability requirements, the programme supports long-term balanced growth and prepares organisations to anticipate future challenges proactively.

Through such initiatives, the Abu Dhabi Chamber continues to reinforce the emirate’s reputation as a regional and global hub for sustainable business and investment, helping companies navigate economic shifts while embedding sustainability as a core pillar of long-term competitiveness.
