India Keeps Iran Travel Warning Despite Improved Situation

New Delhi has maintained its travel advisory for Iran despite signs of stability following recent diplomatic efforts to end hostilities….reports Asian Lite News Desk

India on Wednesday issued a revised travel advisory for its citizens, urging them to continue avoiding non-essential travel to Iran despite signs of improvement in the country’s security situation.

The Indian Embassy in Tehran said it has been closely monitoring developments and noted that the overall situation in Iran has improved in recent days. However, it cautioned that Indian nationals should remain vigilant and avoid unnecessary travel until further notice.

“The Embassy of India, Tehran, has been closely monitoring the prevailing security situation in the Islamic Republic of Iran. In light of recent positive developments and the improvement in the overall situation, the Embassy wishes to issue the following revised advisory for Indian nationals contemplating travel to Iran,” the Embassy said.

Despite the positive developments, the advisory stressed that all non-essential travel to Iran should continue to be avoided.

Indian citizens currently residing in Iran, as well as those who may need to travel to the country for unavoidable reasons, have been advised to exercise a high degree of caution, remain alert and maintain constant awareness of the security situation.

The Embassy also urged Indian nationals to closely follow local developments through credible sources and comply with all instructions issued by local authorities.

In addition, the mission advised all Indian citizens currently in Iran and those planning to travel there to register their details with the Embassy at the earliest opportunity. It also asked them to regularly monitor the Embassy’s website and social media platforms for updates and further advisories.

The advisory comes after recent diplomatic efforts aimed at easing tensions in the region. Earlier this month, the United States and Iran signed a memorandum of understanding to end hostilities and extend a ceasefire while negotiations continue on Tehran’s nuclear programme and regional security issues.

India has welcomed the agreement and reiterated its support for dialogue and diplomacy as the only sustainable path to peace in West Asia. New Delhi has consistently called for de-escalation and emphasised the importance of ensuring stability, freedom of navigation and uninterrupted global trade through the Strait of Hormuz.
