India and Singapore reviewed progress across key areas of their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership during the 19th Foreign Office Consultations in New Delhi….reports Asian Lite News Desk
India and Singapore reviewed progress in their bilateral cooperation and discussed regional and global developments during the 19th round of the India-Singapore Foreign Office Consultations (FOC) held in New Delhi on Thursday.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the Indian delegation was led by Secretary (East) Rudrendra Tandon, while the Singapore delegation was headed by Luke Goh, Permanent Secretary (Policy) at Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the consultations, both sides assessed progress under the eight key areas identified in the Roadmap for the India-Singapore Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP), which are being advanced through the India-Singapore Ministerial Roundtable (ISMR).
The roadmap outlines cooperation in economic collaboration, skills development, digitalisation, sustainability, connectivity, healthcare and medicine, people-to-people and cultural exchanges, and defence and security.
The two delegations also exchanged views on regional and international developments and reaffirmed the importance of maintaining close coordination at regional and multilateral forums, including ASEAN, to address shared challenges.
India and Singapore elevated their ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Singapore in September 2024. The CSP Roadmap was subsequently launched during Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong’s visit to India in September 2025 to provide a structured framework for expanding cooperation across multiple sectors.
As part of his visit to India, Luke Goh also called on External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and held separate meetings with Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and Rajiv Mani, Secretary in the Legislative Department of the Ministry of Law and Justice.
According to the MEA, Misri and Goh discussed ways to advance the India-Singapore Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and exchanged views on regional and global developments.
The latest consultations follow the previous round of Foreign Office Consultations held in Singapore in March 2025. During that meeting, both countries reviewed the full spectrum of bilateral and multilateral cooperation and discussed issues of mutual regional and global interest.
The earlier discussions focused on six priority pillars identified through the India-Singapore Ministerial Roundtable: digitalisation, skills development, sustainability, healthcare and medicine, advanced manufacturing, and connectivity. The two sides had also reviewed cooperation in defence, trade, investment, culture, and people-to-people exchanges.
The Foreign Office Consultations serve as a regular mechanism for reviewing bilateral ties and monitoring progress on initiatives agreed under the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, reflecting the growing strategic and economic engagement between India and Singapore.
