External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar held talks with Permanent Representatives to the United Nations from 17 countries visiting India on a study tour, highlighting the need for reformed multilateralism that reflects the aspirations of the Global South.
The discussions covered technology, maritime safety, peacekeeping, development partnerships and disaster response. Jaishankar said India remains committed to building a more representative and effective global order.
The visit comes as India prepares its campaign for a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council for the 2028–29 term, with New Delhi calling for stronger representation of developing nations in global decision-making.
