US Sanctions Pakistan Defence CEO Over Iran Weapons Links

The US Treasury accused Waseem Pasha Tajammal and three companies linked to him of supporting Iran’s weapons procurement activities….reports Asian Lite News Desk

The United States has imposed sanctions on Waseem Pasha Tajammal, CEO of Pakistan-based defence company Cavalier Dynamics, and three businesses linked to him over alleged support for Iran’s weapons procurement activities.

The US Treasury said Tajammal and the Cavalier Group acted as third-party intermediaries for Iran’s Ministry of Defence and Armed Forces Logistics (MODAFL), using professional networks to procure and distribute weapons on behalf of the ministry.

Tajammal is the majority shareholder and CEO of Pakistan-based Cavalier Dynamics Private Limited. He also serves as a director of Saudi Arabia-based Cavalier Dynamics for Technologies Company, which is wholly owned by the Pakistani firm.

He is also the director and sole shareholder of Turkey-based Cavalier Dynamics Teknoloji Ticaret Anonim Sirketi.

The Treasury designated Tajammal under an executive order targeting proliferators of weapons of mass destruction and their means of delivery. The three companies were also sanctioned on grounds that they were owned or controlled by Tajammal or acted on his behalf.

The action involving the Saudi-based company was coordinated with the Saudi government, the Treasury said.

“Under Operation Economic Outcast, Treasury will continue to target and disrupt those who provide material, technological, or financial support that allows the Iranian regime to sustain its terrorist enterprise,” US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said.

“US Treasury will not tolerate any support to the (Iranian) regime and will continue to identify, expose, and isolate Iran’s enablers,” he added.

The latest measures also targeted an Iranian official based in Beijing and a procurement network operating across Iran, China and Hong Kong.

The Treasury identified Seyyed Asghar Alizadeh Tabatabai as a MODAFL representative in Beijing who coordinated the procurement of finished weapons systems and dual-use components from China.

Iran-based Kavoshcom Asia R and D Group was also designated. The company allegedly procured electronic components for the Iran Aircraft Manufacturing Industrial Company, which develops unmanned aerial vehicles and military aircraft.

According to the Treasury, Kavoshcom also supplied electronics to the Shahid Bakeri Industrial Group, which is responsible for Iran’s solid-fuel ballistic missile programme.

Hong Kong-based EC Mojo Technology Co Limited and its China-based representative, Li Fen, were sanctioned for allegedly supporting Kavoshcom’s procurement operations.

The Treasury also designated Kavoshcom director Ali Fotowat Ahmady and representative Parisa Lali as part of the action.

The sanctions come amid continued US efforts to disrupt international procurement networks that Washington says support Iran’s military and weapons programmes.
