Pak military denies role in political roller-coaster

The DG ISPR’s comments came after President Arif Alvi approved the dissolution of the National Assembly (NA) on the advice of Prime Minister Imran Khan….reports Asian Lite News

The Pakistan military has nothing to do with what happened on Sunday, Director-General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Major General Babar Iftikhar told Geo News after the country witnessed a political roller-coaster within a span of a few hours.

Replying to a question regarding the consent of the Army in the political developments of the day, the DG ISPR bluntly denied any sort of involvement.

The DG ISPR’s comments came after President Arif Alvi approved the dissolution of the National Assembly (NA) on the advice of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

NA Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri dismissed the much-anticipated no-confidence motion against the Prime Minister saying it was in contradiction of Article 5 of the Constitution.

Former Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Farrukh Habib has confirmed that elections will now take place in 90 days

In a brief address to the nation after the no-confidence motion was rejected, the premier congratulated the nation and said that he had sent a proposal to the President to dissolve the NA and the nation should prepare for the next elections.
