BSF foils smuggling bid on India-Bangladesh border

The seized items were handed over to Bangaon and Murutia police stations respectively, for further legal action…reports Asian Lite News

Foiling a smuggling bid, Border Security Force (BSF) seized huge quantity of ganja from the India-Bangladesh border.

“On December 11, 2022, alert troops of Border Out Post Sutiya 107 Battalion, under South Bengal Frontier, foiled smuggling attempts and seized 12 kg of ganja from their area of responsibility. Smugglers were trying to take this ganja from India to Bangladesh,” said a BSF statement. “In another incident, alert jawans of Border Out Post BRC Pur 86 Battalion recovered 3.250 kg of ganja from their area of responsibility,” the BSF added.

The seized items were handed over to Bangaon and Murutia police stations respectively, for further legal action.

The spokesperson of South Bengal Frontier stated that smugglers try to push narcotics across the international border by employing different tricks.

Meanwhile, BSF on Tuesday recovered a packet containing narcotics near the International Border in Ferozepur.

“Border Security Force troops, carrying out area domination patrol ahead of the border fence on specific information, observed a suspicious packet planted in the soil on Dhusi bandh near Dona Telu Mal village in Ferozepur district,” said the BSF statement. “Further, on the opening of the packet, troops recovered a packet of narcotics suspected to be Heroin (Gross wt – 960 gms) wrapped in yellow polythene,” added the statement.

On Monday, the BSF troopers nabbed three Pakistani fishermen from a creek in Gujarat’s Kutch district.

Around 11 pm on Sunday, a BSF patrol party observed the movement of one Pakistani fishing boat and fishermen in the general area of Harami Nalla, the force said. The BSF party immediately rushed to the spot and seized the boat but on seeing the approaching security party, fishermen fled from the vessel and headed towards Pakistan.

The border troopers chased and apprehended three Pakistani fishermen.

The operation conducted throughout the night was closely monitored and supervised by Ravi Gandhi, IG BSF Gujarat Frontier, who is on his maiden visit to the Bhuj Sector, after assuming charge of IG Gujarat Frontier. (ANI)
