Union Budget 2025-26: Growth, Inclusivity, and Middle-Class Empowerment at the Core
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Union Budget 2025-26, outlining key priorities to accelerate economic growth, ensure inclusive development, support industries, and boost household sentiment. The budget also focused on increasing the spending power of India’s growing middle class.
Emphasising the government’s vision, she said the budget aims to drive growth, secure inclusive development, invigorate society and industry, uplift household sentiment, and enhance spending power for India’s rising middle class.
While acknowledging ongoing geopolitical challenges that could slow global economic growth, the Finance Minister expressed confidence in India’s strong economic foundation. She highlighted that the government’s development policies and structural reforms over the past decade have positioned India as the world’s fastest-growing major economy. This, she noted, has strengthened global confidence in India’s potential, making the next five years crucial for achieving holistic development.
Reiterating the government’s vision of ‘Sabka Vikas’ (Development for All), she stated that the goal is to ensure balanced growth across all regions. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the government is committed to unlocking India’s full potential and enhancing its global standing. She further emphasised that India’s economic growth is outpacing other major global economies, crediting the success to development initiatives and reforms over the past decade. She said confidence in India’s capability and potential has significantly grown in this period, making the next five years a unique opportunity to achieve national progress.
Quoting renowned Telugu poet and playwright Gurajada Apparao, she stressed that a country is not just its land but its people. She outlined the government’s vision for Viksit Bharat (Developed India), which includes eradicating poverty, ensuring quality education for all children, providing affordable and comprehensive healthcare, developing a skilled workforce with meaningful employment, increasing women’s participation in the economy to 70 per cent, and strengthening India’s agricultural sector to establish it as the “food basket of the world.”
The budget sets a clear course for India’s growth, focusing on economic empowerment, industrial progress, and societal well-being. With a strong track record and ambitious targets, the government is determined to drive the nation towards greater prosperity in the coming years.
