UAE aid for Gaza in global focus

Titled Hope Remains, the documentary brings to light the UAE’s leading role in providing vital aid and support to the people of Gaza.

The International Humanitarian and Philanthropic Council has released a powerful new documentary film showcasing the United Arab Emirates’ extensive humanitarian efforts in Gaza, amid the ongoing humanitarian crisis in the region. Titled Hope Remains, the documentary brings to light the UAE’s leading role in providing vital aid and support to the people of Gaza, highlighting the deep-rooted values of generosity and solidarity that define the nation’s response.

Premiering on the global Discovery Channel, Hope Remains shares real-life stories of individuals affected by the crisis, whose lives have been positively transformed through the UAE’s interventions. The film captures the emotional journey of many beneficiaries—from the despair experienced during the conflict to the renewed hope fostered by timely aid. This intimate narrative not only highlights the scale of need but also celebrates the UAE’s unwavering commitment to humanitarian support.

Since October 2023, the UAE has contributed $828 million in humanitarian aid to Gaza, representing 42% of all international assistance provided to the Strip as of November last year. This significant contribution underscores the country’s leadership in addressing one of the most pressing crises in the region, focusing especially on vulnerable populations, including children who make up nearly half of Gaza’s population.

Through interviews with aid workers and beneficiaries, the documentary illustrates the transformative impact of the UAE’s initiatives, not just on physical health but also on psychological well-being. It reveals how the aid has restored hope and resilience in communities devastated by conflict, underlining the UAE’s commitment to human dignity and fraternity.

The International Humanitarian and Philanthropic Council plans to release Hope Remains in both Arabic and English on various social media platforms and national television channels throughout June. This release aims to broaden awareness of the UAE’s humanitarian role and to inspire further global support for those in need.

This film builds on the Council’s previous projects, such as last year’s On the Frontline documentary series. That series showcased the efforts of individuals working and volunteering in relief missions across the UAE, Egypt, and Gaza, emphasizing the importance of solidarity and compassion during times of adversity. These initiatives have been instrumental in strengthening the UAE’s social fabric and projecting its humanitarian message worldwide.

Guided by its wise leadership, the UAE continues to prioritise relief efforts in Gaza with a clear focus on alleviating suffering among the most vulnerable. Teams on the ground work tirelessly to ensure aid reaches those most in need, reflecting the nation’s steadfast approach to supporting its brothers and sisters during crises. Through these endeavours, the UAE not only provides essential humanitarian assistance but also fosters hope and resilience in a region deeply affected by conflict.
