Hamdan pushes Dubai private sector growth

Sheikh Hamdan urges government and businesses to collaborate, accelerate Dubai’s economic growth, and unlock new opportunities, reinforcing public-private partnerships under the strategic D33 economic agenda….reports Asian Lite News

H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, has directed government entities to intensify support for the private sector, reinforcing the emirate’s commitment to sustained economic growth. Speaking at the latest edition of the Dubai Majlis, Sheikh Hamdan emphasised a collaborative approach between public authorities and businesses to identify and activate new growth opportunities as Dubai advances towards the strategic goals of the Dubai Economic Agenda, D33.

Hosted jointly by the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) and Dubai Chambers at Qasr Al Bahr, the Majlis brought together 260 representatives from across Dubai’s business ecosystem. Attendees included local and family-owned enterprises, multinational companies, digital sector players, and government entities, reflecting a cross-sectoral commitment to strengthening economic partnerships.

Agility and innovation at the heart of Dubai’s growth

Sheikh Hamdan highlighted the importance of agility as a defining feature of Dubai’s economic development, enabling the city to adapt to global shifts, technological advances, and evolving business demands. “Inspired by the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, we are not only partnering with the private sector, but actively engaging with businesses to identify new paths for growth and activate the necessary enablers to accelerate them,” Sheikh Hamdan said.

This approach, he added, is crucial as Dubai seeks to maintain its competitive edge in an increasingly complex global market, while delivering on the ambitious targets of the D33 Agenda.

Dubai Majlis: Turning dialogue into action

Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansoori, Chairman of Dubai Chambers, described the Majlis as a “vital platform” where discussions move beyond ideas, shaping practical strategies to achieve Dubai’s economic ambitions. “Our progress has always been strongest when it is achieved collectively,” he said, noting that the forum brings government and private sector leaders together to align priorities, guide action, and ensure the successful implementation of Dubai’s strategic plans.

Helal Saeed Almarri, Director-General of DET, echoed these sentiments, emphasising the “strategic synergy” between the public and private sectors. He said the Majlis provides senior leadership with an essential forum to unlock opportunities, drive competitiveness, and reinforce Dubai’s position as a leading global economic hub.

Hadi Badri, CEO of the Dubai Economic Development Corporation (DEDC), described the event as a platform for actionable commitments that advance the D33 Agenda. “Together, we are shaping a stronger, more competitive, and future-ready economic landscape that not only meets the ambitious needs of businesses but takes them to new heights,” Badri said, highlighting the focus on rapidly transforming ideas into practical solutions.

Driving growth through dialogue and strategic planning

During a dynamic programme of roundtable discussions and presentations, 20 priority topics were explored, covering key areas of economic development and reinforcing Dubai’s momentum. Delegates reviewed the emirate’s economic achievements, ongoing reforms that encourage investment and job creation, and the foundations for further expansion.

The discussions also addressed global economic trends, innovation in emerging sectors, and strategies for consolidating Dubai’s status as a premier destination for business, tourism, and investment. The Majlis provided a platform to align public and private sector efforts, with actionable outcomes aimed at accelerating the D33 Agenda and ensuring that Dubai’s growth trajectory remains robust.

Dubai’s economic momentum continues

The event comes on the back of strong economic performance, with Dubai’s GDP growing by 4.4% to reach AED241 billion in the first half of the year. Sheikh Hamdan’s call for intensified private sector engagement underscores the emirate’s commitment to sustaining this momentum and fostering an environment where businesses of all sizes can thrive.

By prioritising collaboration, innovation, and responsiveness to market trends, Dubai continues to position itself as a global economic hub and a city where public and private sectors work hand in hand to achieve shared goals. The Majlis highlights the city’s long-standing philosophy: economic growth is strongest when anchored in partnership, dialogue, and collective action.

As Dubai moves forward, Sheikh Hamdan’s directives signal a clear intent to further empower businesses, promote strategic alignment with government initiatives, and ensure that the private sector remains a central engine of innovation, investment, and sustainable development.
