India and Germany are poised to strengthen their partnership in emerging technologies, with industry leaders highlighting immense potential for collaboration in artificial intelligence (AI), green hydrogen, semiconductors and research and development (R&D) to drive innovation and industrial growth.
Speaking to IANS on the sidelines of an industry event, Indo-German Chamber of Commerce (IGCC) Director General Jan Noether said the two countries are entering a new phase of economic and technological cooperation, underpinned by strong trade growth and increasing industry engagement.
“The economic relationship has evolved and grown at a very steady pace over the past decades. Now, it has entered a new phase of dynamism,” Noether said, noting that bilateral trade reached record levels last year.
He said the success of the inaugural edition of the industry forum had prompted the chamber to make it an annual initiative aimed at fostering dialogue among governments, businesses and research institutions from both nations.

The increasing number of engagements reflects the strong commitment of both ecosystems to deepen industrial and technological partnerships.
A key highlight of the initiative is the startup collaboration programme. Winning startups will receive an opportunity to present their innovations at the upcoming Asia-Pacific Conference in Seoul before senior executives of leading German companies, including Siemens, Bayer and BASF. The platform is expected to help Indian innovators build international partnerships and expand their global footprint.
“The competition showcased many highly innovative products. Presenting them before leaders of German industry further strengthens the economic relationship,” Noether added.
Industry leaders also underscored the importance of semiconductor cooperation. Dr. Sandeep Kumar, Chief Executive Officer of L&T Semiconductor Technologies, said semiconductors have become one of the most critical pillars of the global economy and technological advancement.
Speaking at the “Advancing Atmanirbharta Conference on Design and Manufacturing,” Kumar stressed that India must build a robust and self-reliant semiconductor ecosystem to enhance its technological capabilities and secure a larger role in the global semiconductor supply chain.
The growing India-Germany partnership in emerging technologies is expected to create fresh opportunities for innovation, investment and industrial growth in the years ahead.
