The Liverpool Malayali-Muslim Cultural Association (LMCA) held its first official Eid party ‘Perunnal polivu’ at New Ferry Village Hall. LMCA president Dr Sabeel Valappil and committee member Dr Salma Raheem presided over the function and LMCA General secretary Mr Muhammad Unais welcomed the gathering and facilitated the unveiling of the LMCA website and Logo (https://www.lmcaliverpool.co.uk/). LMCA is a socio-cultural group of Malayali Muslims currently living in the Liverpool and Merseyside region of England.

The joyous celebration was a melting point for traditional Malayali Muslim cultural activities (such as oppana, mappilappattu and kolkali) and Malabar food. All participants were unanimous in their expression of gratitude to be part of such a blessed day, and some even described the event as a “highlight of the year”. It was an opportunity for most of the participants who live far from their family in Kerala to feel at home.

The Malayali Muslim community’s spirit of unity was abundant to be seen in the party, held in one of the friendliest cities in the UK. LMCA vice president Dr Arif Moothadeth gave a vote of thanks to LMCA committee members, sponsors and volunteers who dedicated so much of their time and effort to the success of this event.
