Martin Garrix electrifies Mumbai crowd

Fans from all over the city as well as across-country thronged in droves to watch Garrix perform….writes C. Mundachali

Martin Garrix-arguably the best DJ in the whole world enthralled EDM music fans with his spectacular performance at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. A global EDM sensation who took his music style to new heights has a huge fanbase in India.

The Dutch DJ performed his fan-favourite  singles such as Animals, High on Life, In The Name of Love etc. that kept fans bouncing on their toes at Navi Mumbai.

Fans from all over the city as well as across-country thronged in droves to watch Garrix perform. Over 45000 Martin Garrix and EDM fans thronged at DY Patil stadium to witness the global EDM sensation at work.

Garrix’s entry was preceded by a show by a couple of other artists but  the uproar when Garrix stepped on the stage gave a hint at how deeply the legend placated the hearts of his fans.   ‘Kasa Kai, Mumbai?’  was the EDM legend’s  welcome note. True to the expectations the show kept the audience on edge. The mesmerizing pyrotechnics, the neon-lit lights, and the rhythmic DJ beats brought about a larger-than-life performance that will make it an unforgettable Holi.

The high-energy, neon lit performance enthralled audiences who swayed to the beats  of Garrix. The stage  illuminated with special effects was a show by  itself . The LED and the laser light  curated by Spacebound Productions provided  a surrealistic ambience to the show . As the event was nearing completion, Garrix gifted his fans a delightful surprise  with a show of drones, in all 300 of them, moving in tandem to create the shape of a heart, (he was showing his love for the Mumbai fans) as well as his signature logo ‘s+x’ (synonymous to his  fans worldwide) and also Angel Wings.

As happens always, his audience stayed spellbound until the last moment.

His final track for the spectacular nightshow  was ‘Angels for Each Other’ . Garrix introduced his close friend  Arijit Singh,  who is already a big sensation in the Indian music industry. The  surprise collaboration took the finale to a level only Garrix could do.

Then both the artists bid adieu to their Mumbai fans.

A foot note. This is the latest in a series of international shows hosted at the DY Patil stadium in Navi Mumbai. It has hosted musical concerts for many International artists such as Coldplay that took place a month prior to Martin Garrix ’s event. The stadium can also boast of staging many international cricket matches.
