Eid Mubarak

As the holy month of Ramadan draws to a close, the UAE is gearing up for Eid Al Fitr with a series of initiatives ranging from the official moon-sighting to nationwide celebrations and humanitarian efforts

The UAE Council for Fatwa has called on specialists and members of the community to observe the crescent moon of Shawwal 1446 AH on the evening of Saturday, 29th March 2025, which corresponds to the 29th of Ramadan. The official Shawwal Moon-Sighting Committee, responsible for confirming the start of Eid, has urged anyone who sights the crescent to report their observations via phone or an online submission link.
Eid Celebrations for Workers Across UAE
In a move to ensure inclusivity and social cohesion, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has organised nationwide Eid Al Fitr celebrations for workers under the theme “Our Workers, the Pulse of Our Business.” The festivities, held in 10 locations across the country, feature entertainment, competitions, and prizes, creating an atmosphere of joy and appreciation for the workforce.
These celebrations are being arranged in collaboration with various government and private sector entities, including the Ministry of Interior, Abu Dhabi Ports Group, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), and the National Ambulance. By integrating workers into national festivities, the initiative highlights their essential role in the UAE’s sustainable development while ensuring their well-being and happiness.

EidInDubai Citywide Celebrations

Dubai is set to host a grand celebration for Eid Al Fitr with the launch of the 2025 edition of #EidInDubai, spearheaded by Brand Dubai, the creative arm of the Government of Dubai Media Office (GDMO). Under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the initiative follows the highly successful #RamadanInDubai campaign, which featured over 200 cultural, spiritual, and entertainment events.
The #EidInDubai celebrations, running from 25th March to 6th April, will transform the city into a festive hub with dazzling fireworks displays, world-class entertainment, sporting events, shopping promotions, and dining experiences. Dubai’s skyline will light up with breathtaking fireworks, while thrilling ice shows and international musical performances will enchant audiences. The Eid Al-Fitr Raffle, exclusive retail promotions, and cashback deals will further enhance the festive experience for residents and visitors alike.
During a press conference launching the initiative, Her Excellency Mona Al Marri, Vice Chairperson and Managing Director of the Dubai Media Council and Director General of GDMO, highlighted the spirit of community and collaboration behind the celebrations. The citywide campaign is designed to bring people together, reflecting the UAE’s commitment to social unity and cultural enrichment.
Humanitarian Ramadan Initiatives
As part of the UAE’s commitment to social responsibility, the Ministry of Finance has rolled out four humanitarian initiatives during Ramadan to support vulnerable communities and promote volunteerism. These initiatives align with the goals of the “Year of Community 2025,” aimed at fostering social solidarity and enhancing the quality of life for those in need.
The initiatives include:
Ramadan Mir: Food baskets were distributed to families in need in collaboration with the Family Care Authority and Emirates Red Crescent, helping ease financial burdens during Ramadan.
Supporting Humanitarian Cases: The ministry partnered with Emirates Red Crescent to provide financial assistance to individuals facing urgent medical and financial hardships.
Inspired by Zayed’s Generosity: Organised in honour of Zayed Humanitarian Day, this initiative provided iftar meals for over 1,500 underprivileged workers, reinforcing the UAE’s values of generosity and compassion.
Eid Gifts on Us: In collaboration with Rashid Centre for People of Determination, this initiative brought joy to 50 individuals by gifting them Eid presents, promoting inclusivity and community spirit.
Younis Haji AlKhoori, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance, emphasised that these initiatives reflect the UAE’s deep-rooted humanitarian principles and commitment to social welfare. By fostering a culture of giving and volunteerism, the ministry aims to create a more cohesive and sustainable society.
A Season of Unity and Festivity
With preparations for Eid Al Fitr in full swing, the UAE is embracing the spirit of community, generosity, and celebration. From the moon-sighting announcement to nationwide festivities and humanitarian initiatives, the country is set to mark the end of Ramadan with a blend of tradition, inclusivity, and modern festivity. As residents and visitors come together to celebrate, the UAE continues to shine as a beacon of cultural heritage and progressive social engagement.
