IBPC Celebrates R-Day in Dubai 

The Indian Business and Professional Council (IBPC) marked the 75th Republic Day with vision for India’s Future as a ‘Viksit Bharat’ 

The Indian Business and Professional Council (IBPC) hosted a dynamic Republic Day celebration at the Taj Business Bay in Dubai, aligning with India’s vision of becoming a ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047. The event was a tribute to India’s remarkable growth and its aspirations to emerge as the third-largest global economy, a leader in technology, innovation, and sustainability. 

The evening centred around the evolving India-UAE relationship, with key speakers underscoring the strong, multifaceted partnership between the two nations in commerce, culture, and technology. The IBPC’s Chairman, Siddharth Balachandran, highlighted the crucial role of the Indian diaspora in realising India’s ambitions. 

Discussions focused on collaboration in areas such as innovation, sustainability, digital transformation, and economic growth. Special attention was given to initiatives like the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), the rise of cross-border transactions in the Indian Rupee, and the global influence of UPI. 

The event centred around the evolving India-UAE relationship, with key speakers underscoring the strong, multifaceted partnership between the two nations in commerce, culture, and technology. 

The celebration also marked IBPC’s role as a catalyst for strengthening partnerships between India and the global business community. Talks highlighted India’s commitment to renewable energy, digital inclusion, and its growing economic influence on the global stage. 

The event also included a special gesture by Vice Chairman Sunil Sinha, who presented botanical plants to speakers as a symbol of IBPC’s commitment to sustainability. Prominent dignitaries at the event included Sunjay Sudhir, Indian Ambassador to the UAE, Satish Sivan, Consul General of India to Dubai, Tariq Alhashimi, Investment Manager at Dubai Chambers of Commerce, and key figures from the Indian community. 

Ambassador Sudhir delivered a powerful message, reflecting on India’s progress since adopting its Constitution in 1950. He emphasized the deep-rooted partnership between India and the UAE, which continues to thrive in areas like trade, diplomacy, and technology. “India stands as an oasis of peace, stability, and progress,” Sudhir said, noting the successful cooperation seen at the G20 and COP28 summits, as well as initiatives like Bharat Mart and the Virtual Trade launch. 

A 30-minute Bollywood cultural program presented by Malhaar, a renowned cultural group in the UAE, added a celebratory touch to the evening. The performance highlighted India’s cultural diversity and further strengthened the connection between the two nations. 

Dr. Sahitya K. Chaturvedi, IBPC Secretary General, concluded the event with a message of gratitude, recognizing the invaluable contributions of the Indian diaspora to India’s economic, social, and technological development. “As India looks to the next chapter of its growth, the Indian diaspora in the UAE remains a key partner,” he said. 

The event was a resounding success, celebrating India’s growth and reaffirming the important role of the diaspora in shaping the nation’s future. The evening concluded with a vote of thanks from Ms. Jayshree Gupta, representing the IBPC Board of Governors.
