UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has received Jeff Bezos, the Founder and Executive Chairman of Amazon, during a high-level meeting at Qasr Al Shati in Abu Dhabi, underscoring the Emirates’ expanding engagement with global technology leaders.
The discussion centred on deepening cooperation in innovation, advanced technology, and artificial intelligence, with a particular focus on how these tools can be integrated into core sectors such as education, healthcare, and the wider economy.
During the meeting, both sides explored ways to harness next-generation technologies to support sustainable development and enhance quality of life for communities in the UAE and beyond. Bezos praised the nation’s forward-looking approach and its commitment to adopting future-ready technologies as part of its long-term developmental strategy.
The talks aligned closely with ongoing national initiatives aimed at strengthening the UAE’s position as a global hub for AI, digital transformation, and cybersecurity. The meeting was attended by H.H. Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Technology Council, along with senior officials including Khaldoun Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Executive Affairs Authority.
The engagement comes as the UAE deepens its partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS) in the field of cybersecurity. In October, the UAE Cybersecurity Council, working with AWS, CrowdStrike, and e&, announced the launch of the AWS/CTIB Cybersecurity Startup Accelerator Programme. The multi-year initiative aims to fast-track more than 500 homegrown cybersecurity startups and boost the UAE’s technological capabilities.
Designed under the vision of the UAE Cybersecurity Technology Innovation Bureau, the programme provides startups with targeted mentorship, access to cloud infrastructure, global security expertise, and strong regional market pathways. With an emphasis on preparing solutions for rapidly evolving global cyber threats, the accelerator marks a significant milestone in the expansion of the country’s cybersecurity ecosystem.
