Healthcare major Aster DM Healthcare plans to invest Rs 1,661 crore in Kerala, adding 1,315 beds and creating nearly 7,900 jobs over the coming years….reports Asian Lite News Desk

Aster DM Healthcare has announced plans to invest an additional Rs 1,661 crore in Kerala to expand its healthcare infrastructure, adding 1,315 new hospital beds across the state over the coming years.

The announcement was made after Aster DM Healthcare Founder and Chairman Dr. Azad Moopen met Kerala Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan in Kochi and discussed opportunities to strengthen healthcare infrastructure, medical education, skill development, employment generation, healthcare technology, medical tourism and charitable initiatives in the state.

During the meeting, Dr. Moopen congratulated the Chief Minister on presenting what he described as a progressive and development-oriented state Budget and reiterated Aster’s long-term commitment to Kerala.

Following the integration of Aster DM Healthcare and Quality Care India (QCIL), the combined healthcare network will operate 11 hospitals in Kerala with a total capacity of 4,575 beds, creating one of the largest healthcare networks in the country.

The expansion plan is expected to significantly boost healthcare capacity in the state while generating employment opportunities. The combined entity currently employs more than 18,400 healthcare professionals and is projected to create nearly 7,900 additional jobs as part of its future growth plans.

Aster alone plans to add 834 beds in Kerala, including the upcoming 454-bed Aster Hospital in Thiruvananthapuram, which is expected to strengthen access to advanced healthcare services in the southern region of the state.

Speaking after the meeting, Dr. Moopen said Kerala remains one of Aster’s most important markets and highlighted the state’s strength in healthcare talent.

“Kerala occupies a special place in Aster’s journey and continues to be one of our most strategic markets. The state has a unique advantage through its highly skilled doctors, nurses and allied healthcare professionals, who are respected across India and around the world,” he said.

He added that Aster remains committed to partnering with the Kerala government in its efforts to position the state as one of India’s leading healthcare destinations.

The proposed investment is expected to further strengthen Kerala’s healthcare ecosystem while supporting economic growth through increased employment, medical education and healthcare-related infrastructure development.
