PM Modi calls paper leaks a national concern, urges united action and strict punishment to protect the future of India’s youth…reports Asian Lite News Desk
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday described the issue of examination paper leaks as a matter of concern for the entire country and called for collective action against those responsible, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said.
Addressing reporters after the NDA’s ‘Mangal Milan’ programme, Rijiju said the Prime Minister stressed that the government acted immediately after reports of the NEET-UG paper leak emerged and that those involved should face the strictest punishment.
“Paper leaks are not an issue limited to any one state or the central government. It is a matter of concern for the entire nation,” Rijiju quoted the Prime Minister as saying, adding that all states and political parties should work together to tackle the problem.
According to Rijiju, PM Modi said the focus should remain on protecting the future of India’s youth and ensuring that such incidents do not affect their opportunities.
“Time, energy and focus should be on the youth and their future,” the minister said, highlighting the Prime Minister’s message during the NDA parliamentary meeting.
Rijiju said that after the NEET paper leak reports surfaced, immediate steps were taken, including arrests of those allegedly involved. He added that efforts were made to ensure that students’ futures were not impacted and that the examination process continued without unnecessary delays.
“The Prime Minister also appealed that top lawyers should support efforts to ensure the strictest possible punishment for those involved in heinous crimes like paper leaks, so that strong deterrent measures can prevent such incidents in the future,” Rijiju said.
The NDA meeting also included a welcome for newly elected Rajya Sabha members, with leaders congratulating them on taking up their parliamentary responsibilities. BJP president Nitin Nabin attended the meeting for the first time as a Rajya Sabha member, Rijiju said.
The minister added that six Rajya Sabha members who had earlier resigned from the Aam Aadmi Party and later joined the BJP were also welcomed during the gathering.
Rijiju said PM Modi highlighted the achievements of India’s youth across various sectors, including the successful launch of Vikram-1 by Skyroot Aerospace, as an example of the country’s growing innovation ecosystem.
The Prime Minister also spoke about India’s recent achievements, including free trade agreements with several countries, which Rijiju said were beneficial for farmers and the economy.
On the ongoing Monsoon Session of Parliament, Rijiju said the NDA would play a constructive role and remain united to ensure the smooth passage of government legislation.
He also appealed to the Opposition to cooperate in parliamentary functioning, saying that while political parties may have differences, Parliament’s purpose is to work for the country’s future and its young population.
