Vikram Bhatt Returns With 1920: Cold Winter

Filmmaker Vikram Bhatt is returning to the horror genre with the next chapter of the popular 1920 franchise, titled 1920: Cold Winter. The film will be produced by Anand Pandit, with Bhatt serving as the writer and director.

The upcoming horror film is co-produced by Roopa Pandit and Rahul V Dubey. Vikram Bhatt unveiled the first-look poster of the film on social media, creating excitement among fans of the franchise.

Sharing the poster, Bhatt wrote that his partnership with Anand Pandit continues to grow, following the success of their previous projects. He said the duo is bringing audiences another chilling chapter in the iconic 1920 series.

The first film in the franchise, 1920, was released in 2008 and was written and directed by Vikram Bhatt. Set in the year 1920, the film followed a newly married couple, played by Rajneesh Duggal and Adah Sharma, who move into a haunted mansion where the wife becomes possessed by an evil spirit.

The film gained popularity for its atmospheric horror and supernatural storyline, leading to a sequel titled 1920: The Evil Returns in 2012. Directed by Bhushan Patel, the second instalment featured Aftab Shivdasani, Tia Bajpai, Vidya Malvade and Sharad Kelkar.

The franchise later expanded with 1921 and 1920: Horrors of the Heart, continuing its focus on supernatural themes and haunted narratives.

Meanwhile, Vikram Bhatt recently directed Haunted 3D, another horror project featuring Mimoh Chakraborty, Chetna Pande, Shruti Prakash, Gaurav Bajpai, Praneet Bhatt and Hemant Pandey.

Produced by Anand Pandit and Rakesh Juneja, the film also included Roopa Pandit, Dilip Jaiswal, Rahul V Dubey, Manish Bhushan Mishra and Sanjay Singh as co-producers.

Presented in association with Promoedge Media Company Pvt Ltd, Haunted 3D was distributed worldwide by Anand Pandit Motion Pictures and released in theatres on June 12, 2026.

With 1920: Cold Winter, Vikram Bhatt aims to revive the suspense and supernatural elements that made the original franchise a favourite among horror film audiences.
