Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, the fourth edition of the 1 Billion Followers Summit officially opens today, positioning Dubai once again at the centre of the global content creator economy.
Organised by the UAE Government Media Office, the three-day summit is being held across Emirates Towers, Dubai International Financial Centre and the Museum of the Future under the theme “Content for Good”. It brings together the world’s most influential creators, technology leaders, investors and policymakers to explore how digital content can drive economic growth, social impact and innovation.
This year’s edition is expected to draw more than 30,000 attendees, including over 15,000 Arab and international creators and influencers. With more than 500 speakers collectively commanding a global audience of 3.5 billion followers, the summit is being billed as the largest and most influential gathering of its kind anywhere in the world.
A global platform shaping digital influence
Across three days, the summit will host more than 580 keynote sessions, workshops, roundtables, fireside chats and debates organised around three core tracks: Economy, Content and Technology. These sessions bring together senior executives from leading digital platforms, global media companies and emerging technology firms alongside some of the most recognisable faces in the creator economy.
Mohammad Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, said the summit reflects the UAE’s ambition to redefine the role of digital media as a force for positive societal change. He noted that over the past four years, the 1 Billion Followers Summit has helped establish the UAE as a global hub for content creation, innovation and creative entrepreneurship.
Al Gergawi said the scale of participation demonstrates the UAE’s appeal as a destination where creators, platforms and investors can collaborate, launch ventures and unlock new opportunities across the media and creative industries. He added that the summit is designed not just to inspire dialogue, but to deliver tangible outcomes and initiatives that strengthen the power of positive content to improve lives and communities.
From content creation to real-world impact
A defining feature of this year’s summit is its focus on transforming content creation into impact creation. Central to this is the launch of the “1 Billion Acts of Kindness” campaign, developed in partnership with MrBeast, the world’s most-followed YouTuber, and supported by Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives and the Varkey Foundation.
During the summit, MrBeast will announce the names of ten content creators selected to help lead the global movement, which aims to turn digital influence into measurable social good. The campaign will be explored in a flagship session on Day 1 featuring Saeed Al Eter, CEO of MBRGI, Sunny Varkey, Founder of the Varkey Foundation, MrBeast himself and Jeffrey Housenbold, CEO of Beast Industries.
The summit has also partnered with TikTok to launch the world’s first Educators Award, recognising creators producing high-quality educational and edutainment content. In parallel, five strategic partnerships have been unveiled with YouTube, TikTok, Snapchat, X and Meta to advance the “Content for Good” agenda.
AI, investment and the business of creativity
The second major pillar of the summit focuses on the integration of artificial intelligence into content creation. In partnership with Google Gemini, the summit has launched the AI Film Award, offering a grand prize of $1 million. The competition has attracted more than 30,000 entries from 116 countries, with five shortlisted films set to be screened during the summit before the winner is announced on Day 2.
Day 3 will spotlight entrepreneurship through the Creators Ventures Accelerator, a world-first initiative organised by Creators HQ in collaboration with 500 Global. The programme gives creators and creative start-ups a platform to pitch their ideas to leading investors, with winning ventures gaining access to funding and support valued at up to AED 50 million. The accelerator received more than 1,100 applications from over 70 countries.
Global icons take centre stage
The summit’s agenda features a high-profile line-up of global figures, including actor and producer Will Smith, who will discuss sustainability and global change through his National Geographic series “Pole to Pole”. Entrepreneur Mohamed Alabbar will share insights on building global brands, while former football star Rio Ferdinand will reflect on his transition from elite sport to digital entrepreneurship.
Other highlights include appearances by Lara Trump, Max Amini and Simon Squibb, whose return to the summit follows his headline-grabbing decision last year to give away his $1 million prize to aspiring entrepreneurs.
