Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday praised the Indian diaspora in France for its contribution to strengthening ties between the two countries, saying he was proud of the community’s efforts in bringing India and France closer together.
Arriving in Paris after concluding his engagements at the G7 Summit in Evian, PM Modi received a warm welcome from members of the Indian community.
Taking to social media platform X, the Prime Minister expressed appreciation for the diaspora and highlighted the importance of the strategic partnership between the two nations.
“Reached Paris a short while ago to a warm welcome by the Indian diaspora. I am proud of their efforts in bringing India and France closer. The India-France partnership is vital for the progress of our planet,” he wrote.
The Prime Minister arrived in the French capital following a series of high level meetings and discussions at the G7 Summit, where he outlined India’s positions on key global issues, including governance, policymaking and the role of the Global South in driving inclusive global growth.
Reflecting on his participation at the summit, PM Modi said the discussions provided an opportunity to present India’s perspectives on major international challenges and underline the need for greater cooperation with developing nations.
“I had a series of productive meetings and exchanges during the G7 Summit in Evian. I had the opportunity to present India’s positions and efforts on key areas of governance and policymaking. I also had the opportunity to emphasise the need to work closely with the Global South regarding global prosperity,” he posted on X.
India has increasingly projected itself as a leading voice of the Global South, advocating inclusive economic growth, equitable access to technology and reforms in global governance institutions.
The Paris leg of PM Modi’s visit is expected to focus on strengthening cooperation in technology, innovation and people to people exchanges between India and France.
During his stay, the Prime Minister is scheduled to address VivaTech 2026, one of Europe’s largest technology and innovation events, where he is expected to highlight India’s expanding digital economy and growing innovation ecosystem.
He will also interact with members of the Indian diaspora during a community event.
India and France share a long standing strategic partnership covering a wide range of sectors, including defence, space cooperation, civil nuclear energy, trade, technology and cultural exchanges.
Officials view the Prime Minister’s visit to Paris as an opportunity to further deepen bilateral cooperation while reinforcing the role of the Indian diaspora in strengthening ties between the two countries.
