India on Tuesday strongly condemned the attacks in Fujairah that left three Indian nationals injured, calling for an immediate halt to hostilities and an end to the targeting of civilians and civilian infrastructure.
The incident occurred on Monday, with the United Arab Emirates attributing the strikes to Iran.
In a statement, the Ministry of External Affairs said the attack was “unacceptable” and urged all sides to cease violence. “We call for the immediate cessation of these hostilities and the targeting of civilian infrastructure and innocent civilians,” it said.
India reiterated its position in favour of dialogue and diplomacy to de-escalate tensions in the Gulf and restore regional stability. It also stressed the importance of maintaining free and unimpeded navigation through the Strait of Hormuz in accordance with international law.
“India stands ready to support all efforts aimed at a peaceful resolution,” the statement added.
Earlier, the Embassy of India in the UAE confirmed that it was in touch with local authorities to ensure proper medical care and welfare for the injured nationals.
Meanwhile, the UAE’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned what it described as “renewed unprovoked Iranian aggression” involving missiles and drones, and confirmed that the three Indians were injured in strikes on civilian sites.
Calling the incident an “unacceptable act of aggression”, the UAE warned that the attacks posed a direct threat to its security, stability and territorial integrity. It said the strikes violated international law and the Charter of the United Nations.
The Ministry asserted that the UAE would not tolerate threats to its sovereignty and reserved the right to respond to the attacks in a manner consistent with international law.
It also underscored the need for an immediate halt to hostilities, holding Iran fully responsible for the attacks and their consequences.
