Iran warns of a severe regional response as strikes target US bases in Kuwait, Bahrain and Jordan, escalating tensions between Tehran and Washington, reports Asian Lite News Desk
Iran has warned of a “crushing” response against infrastructure across West Asia if the United States targets Iranian power plants and bridges, as Tehran carried out strikes on US bases in Kuwait, Bahrain and Jordan.
Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters issued the warning after US President Donald Trump said Washington would expand its strikes on Iran to include infrastructure targets unless Tehran agrees to negotiations.
Ebrahim Zolfaghari, spokesperson for the Iranian military headquarters, said Iran’s armed forces would deliver a response that would be more severe and widespread if the US follows through on its threats.
The warning came as Iranian forces launched attacks against US facilities in the region. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said its naval and aerospace forces carried out missile and drone operations against US targets.
The IRGC claimed that the attacks hit US facilities in Kuwait, Jordan and Bahrain, including military installations, radar systems, communications centres and other infrastructure.
Kuwait said its air defence systems intercepted hostile drones, while condemning what it described as Iranian attacks on its territory. The country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said it held Iran responsible for the strikes and warned that further attacks on Gulf Cooperation Council states could increase regional tensions.
Bahrain’s Defence Force also said its air defence systems intercepted and destroyed Iranian aerial attacks targeting the kingdom. It said its forces remained on high alert to protect the country.
Jordan said its air defence systems shot down eight Iranian missiles targeting the kingdom. The Jordan Armed Forces said no casualties or material damage were reported, while debris from intercepted missiles was dealt with by specialist teams.
